SingNet takes commercial high-speed broadband to next level by offering more at lower costs

New service addresses high-bandwidth expectations of the enterprise market

22 September 2006, Singapore – SingNet, Singapore’s leading Internet service provider and a subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel), today announced that it will offer its business customers a commercial high-speed broadband Internet service at a fraction of current prices.

Called Ethernet-Lite, this new service is an Ethernet broadband service offered on a shared bandwidth concept.  It is suitable for value-conscious enterprise customers who require high-speed Internet access with symmetric bandwidth for their business needs.  Users can now enjoy similar high upload and download speeds, compared to the asymmetric access – different upload and download speeds – commonly offered in the market.
By paying the current price for a 2Mbps Ethernet connection, customers can enjoy speeds of up to 10Mbps.  Alternatively, they can gain access speeds of up to 100Mbps at the current 10 Mbps price level.
This is made possible via a shared bandwidth concept of Ethernet connectivity on Singtel Meg@POP1.
