Singtel BlackBerry corporate users enjoy preferential roaming on Bridge Mobile Alliance and other partners’ networks

New BlackBerry 8700g™ launched in Singapore

Singapore, 28 February 2006 – Singtel today announced that from tomorrow, all its corporate BlackBerry subscribers who roam on its partners’ networks* will enjoy discounts of at least 20 per cent on roaming BlackBerry data traffic when using applications such as email and calendar.

The new preferential roaming rates are introduced in conjunction with the launch of the BlackBerry 8700g™ in Singapore.

Mr Thomas Yeo, Singtel’s Vice-President of Consumer Marketing, said: “Email has become an integral part of the business world today.  Businessmen and road warriors need to access their email on the move – not just in Singapore but also when they are travelling overseas.

“Singtel’s unparalleled local coverage, as well as international mobile data coverage to about 200 global roaming networks, will enable our BlackBerry customers to remain on top of things no matter where they are, without having to worry about email access on their wireless handsets.”

Mr Yeo added:  “Unlike most operators, Singtel is able to bring more value to customers through collaborating with our regional associates and Bridge Mobile Alliance partners.  Singtel is making ownership of BlackBerry even more cost effective as our customers can enjoy savings of at least 20 per cent off the listed roaming data price on our partners’ networks.”

For example, heavy users who access 5Mb of BlackBerry email data on Singtel partners’ networks over a one-month period can save about $20 on their BlackBerry roaming bill.

The stylish BlackBerry 8700g™, the newest BlackBerry device from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM), has a high resolution QVGA (320x240) LCD screen that supports more than 65,000 colours and delivers vivid graphics.  The device features a unique light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts the screen and keyboard lighting levels for optimised use in outdoor, indoor and dark environments.  With a powerful Intel® XScale® processor, 64 MB of flash memory and 16 MB SDRAM, the BlackBerry 8700g™ offers users faster web browsing and attachment viewing, as well as better application performance.

The BlackBerry 8700g™ also incorporates premium phone features including dedicated ‘send’, ‘end’ and ‘mute’ keys, smart dialling, conference calling, speed dial, call forwarding, speakerphone and Bluetooth® support for use with wireless hands-free accessories and car kits.

Singtel BlackBerry corporate users are supported by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server™, which integrates with Microsoft® Exchange, IBM Lotus® Domino™ and Novell GroupWise® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.

Monthly subscription for BlackBerry from Singtel is $61.95 (with GST) per month for unlimited BlackBerry GPRS local traffic.
