Singapore, 14 June 2009 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today launched Singtel AMPed, an interactive music experience for postpaid mobile customers. This unique service, developed in strategic partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), is the first-of-its-kind in Asia that goes beyond offering unlimited music downloads.
AMPed customers can access music videos, the latest entertainment news and gossip, as well as pre-album releases for free. There will also be opportunities for them to meet their favourite stars and interact online with like-minded music fans. The multi-platform service will be available on the widest range of 3G handsets across brands, which is another outstanding feature of AMPed.

No data charges for unlimited music downloads across the widest range of handsets
AMPed is offered at no additional cost on selected mobile plans, allowing Singtel customers to enjoy the ultimate mobile music experience with peace of mind. Customers can browse and download songs to their hearts’ content, on their handsets and PCs, without having to worry about data charges. The AMPed music library comprises popular songs from different genres and eras, ranging from evergreen to contemporary hits.
Together with Singtel’s unrivalled high-speed 3G network, customers will find it effortless to enjoy, share and download a wide range of songs quickly. A typical song download through the mobile application is expected to take about one minute[1].

Fully interactive and social music experience through mobile and PC
AMPed offers a truly differentiated music experience, enabling customers to interact with other music fans, creating a unique social music community through their mobile phone and PC.
Key features of AMPed include:
  • Interactive AMPed music portal with extensive search features: Customers can search the music store and browse for songs through the user-friendly interface with categories like ‘Artiste’, ‘Album’, ‘New Releases’, ‘Top Downloads’, ‘Recommended Hits’, ‘Shared Playlists’ and even playlists based on customers’ ‘Moods’. They can also access their favourite artiste’s blog and official website for the latest updates.
  • Simple mobile application: Customers can download music easily through a specially designed user interface on their mobile phones. They can update their personal profiles anytime, access playlists from artistes and other members, and be updated with the latest music news.
  • Auto-synchronisation of playlists: Playlists from the AMPed web portal or mobile application will be synchronised automatically in real-time.
  • Chat function and album reviews, with direct links to social networking sites: Customers can upload reviews and comments instantly, allowing them to upload photos, share and chat about their experiences with other music lovers. They can even link their news to popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, offering even greater interaction.
Songs to own and share, up close and personal with the stars
To enhance the social music experience further, customers get to enjoy these exclusive benefits:
  • Select 15 songs to own and share every month. Customers can transfer them to various music playback devices, share them with friends and keep them indefinitely. Unused track entitlements can be cumulatively rolled over until the end of the subscription period.
  • Meet their favourite stars and receive priority invitation to exclusive music showcases, autograph signings and meet-and-greet sessions up to six times a year, the first being the Lady Gaga showcase on 14 June.
  • Access three full-length music videos, free of charge, on the interactive web portal. These videos are refreshed weekly. In addition, while customers are listening to their favourite hits, they can also preview clips of the music video, if available.

There are various options for customers to enjoy the AMPed service. For selected phones, AMPed is bundled free-of-charge without customers having to sign up for new plans.
AMPed isalsoavailable at no additional cost on Broadband on Mobile (200MB) value-added service or Singtel’s 3G Flexi plans. All plans come with bundled data for Internet surfing and unlimited data for AMPed music browsing and downloads.
