Singtel brings Angry Birds to the Singapore Grand Prix
Singapore race fans to be first in Asia to play jumbo version of the game
Singapore, 23 September 2011 - Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced it is bringing a unique large screen version of Rovio’s popular mobile phone game, Angry Birds, to the racetrack of the 2011 Formula 1TM Singtel Singapore Grand Prix.
Set up at the Bay Grandstand, the game relies on the cheers of spectators to determine the speed at which the birds are shot through the air and how potent they will be against the horde of green pigs who have stolen their eggs.
The game will be used to entertain the crowd on each night of the Grand Prix just before the Formula 1TM cars take to the track. It will begin at 7:45 on Friday 23 Sep, 8:00pm on Saturday 24 Sep and 6:00pm on Sunday 25 Sep.
Mr Derrick Heng, Singtel’s Director of Consumer Marketing, said: “Games and apps are an important part of Singtel’s mobile offerings and we love to give our customers something to cheer about. Many of our customers are crazy about Angry Birds, so I’m sure this jumbo version of the game will add even more excitement and colour to Singapore’s sporting event of the year.”
Mr Heng added that Angry Birds will feature prominently in Singtel’s upcoming events.
“Our goal is to give our customers the ultimate Angry Birds experience. The Grand Prix game is just the beginning. We have an exciting series of Angry Birds activities, competitions and exclusive rewards lined-up for our customers,” he said.
