Singapore, 13 September, 2012 – Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel) today announced the launch of Astro Prima on mio TV Channel 602. Astro Prima is the network leader for quality Malay programming, airing the latest top-rated shows from around the region.
The channel will air from 1 October and it will feature the latest drama series, telemovies and movies. The well-recognised Astro Prima will provide a much enhanced variety of programmes from the channel it replaces – Astro Aruna.
Together with Astro Ria and Astro World, mio TV offers viewers an incomparable array of Malay programming. Astro Ria offers the best reality shows, lifestyle programmes, comedy series and other magazine shows from Malaysia, many of them simulcast. The on-demand channel, Astro World, will have enriched offerings with a wider selection of current top titles from Astro Ria and Astro Prima for customers who missed the original telecast of their favourite programmes.

Our customers can now catch their favorite artistes like Aliff Aziz, Adira, Randy Pangalila and Elfira Loy on screen at the same time as their overseas counterparts.”
Headlining the programme line-up for Astro Prima will be the eagerly anticipated drama series, ‘Dalam Hati Ada Taman’. Starring Randy Pangalila and Elfira Loy, it tells the story of the daughter of a failed businesswoman who is forced by her mother to make a decision on who she wants to marry. Catch ‘Dalam Hati Ada Taman’ on Astro Prima every Tuesday at 11pm from 30 October.
Another fan favorite for the month of October will be the drama series ‘Tiara’. Starring Adira, the runner-up of Astro’s Akademi Fantasia, the series tells of the tragic love story between Tiara and Kamal. Fans of Singapore-born actor Aliff Aziz can also catch him in action on the show. ‘Tiara’ airs on Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm from 22 October.
Rounding out the entertainment offering, Astro Prima will also feature well-received series from around the region such as the Tagalog drama, “Destined Hearts”. This will be the first time the Emmy and 2010 Asian TV Award-nominated series will be aired in Singapore with Malay subtitles and viewers can catch it every weekday at 6pm.

42 films that were produced in 2011 will compete for 14 categories in this prestigious award show. Among the films that will be competing are Khurafat, Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa, Karak, Kongsi, Hantu Bonceng, Nur Kasih The Movie, KL Gangster, Ombak Rindu, Songlap and many more.
