Singapore, 16 October 2008 -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today announced the launch of a new Chinese language channel: Mei Ah Drama Channel.   mio TV subscribers can look forward to five brand new, highly-rated drama series from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea on the new channel, which will premiere on mio TV Channel 73 on Monday 20 October 2008.

 

Mei Ah Drama Channel is the first 24-hour drama channel in Singapore featuring such a wide variety of Asian dramas, with all shows screened in their original languages and with a dual language option. Korean and Japanese dramas will feature a Mandarin option and over 50 per cent of the shows will include English subtitles.   Each drama series will run from Monday to Friday at two or three time slots throughout the day.  Every weekend, Mei Ah Drama Channel will feature all five episodes of each drama.

7.30pm  The Golden Age of Daughter-In-Law - Korea

8.30pm  Tokyo Juliet - Taiwan

9.30pm  In-soon is Pretty - Korea

10.30pm  Yamada Taro Monogatari - Japan

11.30pm  Tian Mi Mi - China

 

Manga fans can also look forward to  Tokyo Juliet and  Honey and Clover from Taiwan which are adapted from popular animation series, as well as  Iryu Team Medical  Dragon, a popular Japanese seinan manga, and  Yamada Taro Monogatari, starring Japanese boy band Arashi mem bers - Ninomiya Kazunari and Sakurai Sho.

 

Premiering on 20 October 08 at 10.30pm is Yamada Taro Monogatari a comedy series based on the manga of the same name - features Taro Yamada, whose family lives in extreme poverty. Because of his looks, intelligence, and athleticism, others mistakenly believe that Taro comes from a prosperous family. In contrast, Sakurai plays Taro's best friend Takuya, who really is from a successful family and who helps out Taro in various ways.

 

Tokyo Juliet premiering  on 20 October 08, 8.30pm, is adapted from the Japanese manga by Miyuki Kitagawa and follows the ill-fated love story between two fashion students Ji Feng Liang (Wu Zun) and Lin Lai Sui   (Lin Yi Chen). The film stars veteran Hong Kong actor Simon Yam as the father of Ji, who is against the love relationship between his son and Lin.

 

There will also be a drama adaptation based on one of Japan's best-selling manga comic titles - Honey and Clover premiering on mio TV on 25 November at 8.30pm.  The show stars popular Taiwanese idols Joe Cheng, Eddie Pang and Janine Chang, three youths who graduate from the University, embark on their careers and experience love, life and relationships
