Celestial Movies and Jia Le Channel available from today at no extra charge

Singapore, 29 August 2011 - Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) today launched two Asian channels on mio TV - Celestial Movies  (天映频道) and Singtel's self-packaged Jia Le Channel  (佳乐台) - which feature a selection of high-quality content from the region.

Fans of Asian movies will enjoy the best Hong Kong and Asian content. Celestial Movies opens with blockbuster movies <Bruce Lee, My Brother> (李小龍) and <Legend Of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen> (精武風雲: 陳真). These movies feature a stellar cast including Donnie Yen, Shu Qi and Tony Leung Ka Fai.

“We are introducing these channels based on feedback from our customers and are committed to bringing them a strong selection of the latest top-quality programmes from the region,” said Mr Goh Seow Eng, Chief Digital Home, Singtel.

“Celestial Movies will bring viewers exclusive first-run blockbuster movies and all- time favourites from Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. Jia Le Channel, which we announced last week, is our first self-packaged Asian channel featuring high- quality dramas and variety shows from Taiwan in their original Hokkien dialect.”

“With such compelling programmes, we are certain that these channels will add even more lustre to mio TV’s stable of top flight entertainment, and we assure our customers that there are even more good things coming their way!” Mr Goh said.

With the addition of Celestial Movies, Jingxuan Pack subscribers now have access to the best of Hong Kong and other Asian movies. Also available as part of the pack is the Mei Ah Movies Channel, which screens Asian blockbusters soon after their cinematic debut.

Available only to mio TV customers, Celestial Movies On–Demand (Channel 307), a catch-up service, is now also available so that movie fans do not have to worry about ever missing their favourite movies in their original language. Jia Le offers a similar service on Channel 288.

Celestial Movies Channel 52 and 307 (on-demand) are priced at $9.90 per month for both channels on an a-la-carte basis. Jia Le Channels 88 and 288 (on demand) will also be priced at $9.90 per month for both channels on an a-la- carte basis. Both channels will be available to all mio TV customers to sample free-of-charge from 29 August to 30 September 2011, and mio TV customers who subscribe to the Jingxuan Pack will enjoy these two new channels at no extra charge.
