New Hindi Sony Channels Light up mio TV
Brand new Desi Pack to launch with three great new channels
Singapore, 12 April, 2012 – mio TV today announced that it will be spicing up its Indian entertainment options by adding three highly-anticipated channels for the Hindi-speaking community. From Friday, 13 April, SET (Hindi) (Channel 644), SAB TV (Channel 648), and Sony MAX (Channel 668) will be available for viewing, bringing the number of Hindi channels on mio TV up to six (6).
“Enhancing the range and quality of ethnic programming is a priority for us as we want to offer first-rate content to customers from all cultural groups”, said Mr Goh Seow Eng, Chief, Digital Home, Singtel. “Last year we introduced Colors and MTV India. Today, we are very pleased to add three of the most popular Hindi channels to our stable. In fact, SAB TV and Sony MAX are available for the first time to Singapore viewers only on mio TV. We have created a standalone Hindi Pack called the Desi Pack to cater specifically to this community. The colourful and up-to-date content on these channels, in addition to top-notch sports and our expansive video-on-demand library of blockbusters and USTV series will no doubt make our entertainment options irresistible to the Desi community.”
Mr Rajveer Singh, SVP and GM, Sony Ent Network said, "As India's leading broadcaster, we are delighted to be partnering with Singtel mio TV as we bring our engaging and differentiated content to audiences in Singapore".
One of the most watched television channels in India, SET (Hindi) is a leading entertainment channel that offers a mix of top-rated reality shows and entertainment serials such as Bade Acche Laggte Hai (9.30pm Mondays to Thursdays). This engaging series tells the story of two strangers who have given up on marriage but with a touch of fate and an interesting twist of events, find love in each other.
SAB TV is India’s only Hindi comedy channel and the light-hearted variety of content guarantees a good laugh for everyone in the family. One such programme that viewers can look forward to is Movers and Shakers (10.30pm Mondays to Fridays), a late evening talk show hosted by the multi-talented Shekhar Suman. The show features candid conversations with celebrity guests and newsmakers, stand-up monologues by Shekhar himself, impromptu performances by the guests, a very dynamic band, and plenty of fun and surprises.
Fans of Hindi movies can look forward to Sony MAX, the Maximum Bollywood Channel that showcases fresh movie content around the clock. Packed with everything from classics and musicals to action and adventure, the shows are screened at times that suit the Singapore audience, with primetime hours stretching from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. This month, viewers can also look forward to the Max Stardust Awards that honours the best of Bollywood.
