Singapore’s First Tamil Movie Channel arrives in Singapore on Singtel mio TV in time for Deepavali holidays

Singapore, 6 November 2007 – mio TV launches Tamil Box Office (TBO) – a 24-hour movie channel bringing the best of Tamil blockbusters from India. TBO features popular classics, evergreens from several decades of Indian film-making, hits and blockbuster movies and will be available on mio TV channel 55.

TBO features an extensive library of Tamil movies and offers viewers the choice of hundreds of movies every month, with a primetime line-up that spans across movie blockbusters from the 70s to recent hits. The channel also has programmes that go behind the scenes in Kollywood on TBO Star and also features locally produced entertainment shows. Upcoming blockbuster movies in November include Kreedam, Seena Thana 001, Thirudi, Periyar, Arrya and many more.

Highlights on TBO:

  • TBO Noon – Classic Hits. Movies from the ‘70s right such as Aalaya Deepam and Kudumbum Oru Koyil, that will capture the hearts of the older generation with family-based stories.

  • TBO Matinee – Afternoon nostalgia. Movies from the ‘80s, only serving the best hits of the era such as Thudikum Karangal, Darling Darling Darling and Soorasasamharam.

  • TBO Mega Movie – Blockbuster movies from the year 2000 onwards including Veerappu and Thiruvilayadal Arambam.

  • TBO Hit Movie – Latest, and most popular movies from 2000 onwards with different genre of movies which includes action, romance, comedy and more.

  • TBO Star - Kollywood star interviews and talk shows showcasing India’s favourite actors and actresses.

  • Hello TBOIt is an interactive song-request programme that gives viewers the opportunity to call in and chose their favourite songs. Local celebrities as host will help viewers meet their preferences in this 1-hour long show.

TBO is available for viewing from 5th November 2007 at $8.56 per month or on a twelve-month basis at $6.42 per month. Current mio TV subscribers can also contact the Singtel Hotline at 1800 555 6000 from Monday to Saturday, 8.00am to 6.00pm to subscribe to the new channel or order directly from their mio TV portal.
