Singapore, 3 September 2009 – Singtel today announced its line-up for the new US TV Season for 2009/10 under its Season Pass offerings. mio TV subscribers will be the first in Singapore and in Asia to watch these US series.
“Glee rocks! Vampire Diaries simmers! And V gets right under your skin. Season Pass subscribers can watch these blockbuster new shows without waiting and whenever they want,” said Tim Carmichael, Vice President of mio TV, Singtel. These are only the tip of the iceberg: we have new seasons of everybody’s returning favourites like Supernatural, Ugly Betty and Criminal Minds.”
One of the most eagerly anticipated series, Glee, makes its debut on 4 September. This teen dramedy from Ryan Murphy, the creator of "Nip/Tuck" and "Popular," is a one-hour musical comedy that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of all - the Nationals. Everyone around him thinks he's nuts. He's out to prove them all wrong.
In the US, this series took the unusual step of previewing the first episode in May even though the series only officially begins in September. It was showcased directly after the highly rated American Idol, scoring ten million viewers for the episode and garnering 3 Teen Choice’s nominations and much critical acclaim.
Fresh off the hype of Twilight and ahead of its sequel New Moon in December, vampire folklore fans can feast on The Vampire Diaries (debuts 12 September). Based on the bestselling book series from Alloy Entertainment, which has recently been re-released and is enjoying time on The New York Times Best Sellers list, the much anticipated series is helmed by Kevin Williamson, who was responsible for movies like Scream and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. The series stars Ian Somerhalder (Lost) as one of two vampire brothers at war for the object of their passion – Elena (played by Nina Dobrev)
Based on the John Updike novel and the hit film The Witches of Eastwick starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Jack Nicholson, the drama-comedy Eastwick (debuts 25 September) centres on three young witches whose powers are awakened when a mysterious man moves to town. Sexy, bold and dramatic, the series explores the possibility that the perfect man truly may be the Devil.
Those who remember the 1980s Science Fiction blockbuster TV series V (debuts in November) will be glad to hear that the remake of this seminal series is hitting our shores – bigger and better than before.
Gossip Girl fans will be pleased to hear that their favourite Upper East Siders will be back for the third season on 16 September. And the question on everybody’s blackberry is ‘will Chuck and Blair’s relationship last’? How will Blair react to having Georgina as her roommate? And what does Rufus and Lily's love child has up his sleeves? Look out for guest stars Hilary Duff, JoAnna Garcia and Tyra Banks in this new season.
New seasons of favourite series will also return including Supernatural, Fringe, The Mentalist, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer and the final season of Lost, where questions surrounding the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 and the strange forces of the island they landed on will finally be answered.
Current subscribers will be able to enjoy a free sampling of the new series on demand under mio TV’s “Free for the Month” section. More information and preview clips are available on www.singtel-ustv.com .
