Singtel mio TV reinforces commitment to sports with new carriage deal with ESPN STAR Sports

mio TV’s customers to continue enjoying ESPN STAR Sports’ TV, broadband, and mobile services

Singapore, 1 December, 2012 – Singtel announced today its renewal of ESPN STAR Sports’ (ESS) portfolio of television channels and multimedia assets, extending the partnership that has showcased a stellar line-up of sports content including the unprecedented 15-channel coverage of the London 2012 Olympics to its mio TV customers on ESPN STAR Sports’ networks.

The deal will see ESPN STAR Sports’ television, broadband, and mobile services continuing on Singtel mio TV’s platform. This comprises the six ESPN STAR Sports television channels along with broadband and mobile services, ESPN Player and Mobile ESPN respectively.

Singtel’s mio TV customers enjoy the most comprehensive line-up of sports coverage in Singapore, with up to 40 live football matches shown each week. The line-up includes mio Stadium HD (Channel 102), the sole broadcast channel for the Barclays Premier League matches in Singapore, mio Sports HD (Channel 111) featuring the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, 2014 World Cup Qualifiers, FA Cup, Capital One Cup, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1; ESPN (Channel 114), STAR Sports (mio TV Channel 115), the high-definition 24-hour sports channel ESPN HD (mio TV Channel 117), the 24-7 sports news channel ESPNEWS (mio TV Channel 116), premium cricket channel STAR Cricket HD (mio TV Channel 123), 24-hour HD sports channel ASN (mio TV Channel ), Goal TV (mio TV Channel 118 & 119), dedicated rugby channel Setanta Sports (mio TV Channel 120) and more.

mio TV’s customers will also continue to access ESPN Player, Asia’s leading broadband sports network and Mobile ESPN apps for iPad, iPhone and Android allowing Singapore sports fans Anywhere, Anytime access to their favourite sports.

ESPN STAR Sports features a stellar line-up of sports content that includes exciting football properties (the Spanish La Liga BBVA, Asian Football Confederation events), motor-racing (Formula One, SBK, MotoGP, NASCAR, Dakar Rally), Grand Slam tennis (Wimbledon, Australian Open), events from the WTA Tour and ATP World and the Hopman Cup, the Golf Majors (The Masters, US Open and The Open Championship) as well as the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, popular American sports (Major League Baseball, NCAA College Football and Basketball), premier Asian sports (ASEAN Basketball League, OneAsia golf tournaments, HSBC Asian Five Nations) and top cricket properties (ICC events, Champions League Twenty20, international and domestic cricket from the BCCI, Cricket Australia and England and Wales Cricket Board). In addition, football fans can look forward to ESPN STAR Sports’ continued coverage of the AFF Suzuki Cup with this evening’s matches between Singapore and Laos on ESPN and Malaysia versus Indonesia on STAR Sports, both LIVE, at 8.40pm.
