Singtel’s private collection of art comprises nearly 200 works by Singapore’s leading and emerging artists. Many of these works were produced in the early days of nation-building, when there was a growing sense of awareness of one’s environment and landscapes, and an accompanying urgency to capture what may soon be lost as progress takes over. This is reflected in the many landscape and nature-themed works, both based on realism, semi-abstract and abstract compositions. Some artists also demonstrated a desire to incorporate subjects and styles from Southeast Asia, clearly a result of Singapore’s close proximity to its neighbours.
The collection also includes a number of artworks from countries where Singtel has business footprints, including Australia, India and the Philippines.
