Mohan Singh

Mohan Singh (b. 1972, Delhi, India) is well-known for his vibrant, colourful paintings of youth. His works blend figurative and abstract constructs and cover themes concerning contemporary Indian society: areas of daily life, relationships, urbanisation, globalisation and the future.

Singh studied painting at the College of Art, Delhi, graduating with Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1994, and Master of Fine Arts in 1996. He presented his first solo exhibition in Delhi in 2000 and has since held at least 11 solo exhibitions in India, Japan and Germany. Singh’s work was shown in the Watari-Um Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo in 2003 when he won the South Asian Friendship Scholarship for studies in Japan. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions. Singh has also won several awards from his alma mater, the College of Art, Delhi and other Indian art and government institutions including the College of Fine Arts, Karanataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bangalore and the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
