Zhang Xi Hua | 张希华 (b. 1939, China) is known for his paintings of the scenery and culture around him. His paintings reflect the mood, culture and colours taken from his environment. Zhang was formally trained in the Department of Oil Painting at the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Shenyang, China, from 1955 to 1964. He later became a full-time artist and went on to receive accolades such as the First Prize at the 30th Anniversary Exhibition of Liaoning Province (1979), the Best Work Award at the 60th Anniversary of the Army (1987) and the First Prize at the 50th Anniversary of the National Art Exhibition (1987). Zhang also served as the vice president of the Liao Ning Ya Lu Watercolour Association and a member of the Chinese Artist Association. He is also a Grade 1 national level artist (professor) in China. Zhang Xi Hua’s work has been shown in both solo and group exhibitions in Singapore, China, Indonesia, Bhutan and Vietnam. His solo exhibitions include Refining Mirror (2011) in Shanghai and The Life of Praise (2015) which was also in Shanghai. His work has also been shown in group exhibitions such as the Chinese National Art Exhibition and Provincial Art Exhibition organized by the China Art Museum.
Zhang’s work is currently collected by the China Art Museum, Shanghai and Singtel.
