How to call with Pay-As-U-Roam

When you are travelling overseas and wish to call Singapore and other countries, you can now make calls using IDD.

  1. Simply dial +++ then press SEND
  2. Alternatively, you can use GlobalDial 121 to enjoy savings on your overseas call. Simply dial *121*, followed by <country code>, <phone number> and #
  3. For example, to call Singapore:
  4. *121 65 12345678 #SEND

  5. Your call will be disconnected and we will initiate a callback to your mobile phone within 10 seconds.
  6. Answer your phone, and you will be connected to the party you wish to speak to.
    If the party is unavailable, the call will be disconnected after 5 rings. To make another call, repeat the above steps.

How to send SMS with Pay-As-U-Roam

To send an SMS to someone in Singapore:

  1. Go to Compose Message
  2. Press SEND
  3. Key < tel. no. > e.g. 91234567
  4. Press OK

To send an SMS (Global SMS) to your overseas friend who subscribes to an overseas operator

  1. Go to compose message
  2. Press SEND
  3. Key <+> < country code >< tel. no. > e.g. +852 12345678

    Note: Messages without the '+' sign will not be sent successfully.

  4. Press OK

How to send MMS with Pay-As-U-Roam

While travelling, you can send pictures from your mobile phone to your friend's MMS phone or email address.

  • Simply enable MMS on your mobile phone before you travel, by keying *IDEAS SEND ( *43327 SEND ) and install settings.
  • To send your MMS, follow the same steps as "How to send SMS with Pay-As-U-Roam".

  2. Please call 1688 to check. If your mobile line is registered under a company (BRN), please contact your Account Manager or call 1800-7337788.

  3. Pay-As-U-Roam is not activated on my mobile line. How do I apply for this service?
  4. Call 1688 or visit any Customer Service Counter to apply. If you are eligible, we will proceed to activate the service. Alternatively, you may log on SAVI (Service Activation via Internet) to apply now. Activation is free of charge.

  5. My mobile line is registered under my company. Can I apply for Pay-As-U-Roam?
  6. Yes. Contact your Account Manager or call 1800-7337788.

  7. My mobile line is temporary disconnected. Can I apply for Pay-As-U-Roam?
  8. No. Your mobile line must be reconnected before Pay-As-U-Roam can be activated.

  9. I have payments outstandingon one of  my Singtel services. Can I apply for Pay-As-U-Roam?
  10. No. Please clear your outstanding bills first.

  11. How do I terminate Pay-As-U-Roam?
  12. If your mobile line is registered under a company (BRN), please contact your Account Manager or call 1800-7337788 to terminate.

  13. Can I terminate my AutoRoam service and apply for Pay-As-U-Roam instead? What are the charges involved?
  14. Yes. Please contact your Account Manager. There are no registration or subscription charges for Pay-As-U-Roam, but please note that there is a minimum subscription period of 3 months for AutoRoam. Premature termination may result in a penalty.

  15. Can I terminate Pay-As-U-Roam and apply for AutoRoam instead?
    • you ask  to change from Pay-As-U-Roam to chargeable Autoroam.
    • you apply for chargeable Autoroam.
    • you have terminated the bundled AutoRoam and subsequently apply for activation of bundled AutoRoam again.

Call charges and SMS charges

  1. What are the charges for sending an SMS while I am roaming overseas?
  2. Charges for sending SMS are subjected to prevailing SMS rates imposed by overseas operators.  However, if you send a Global SMS (SMS to an overseas friend who subscribes to an overseas operator), you will be charged 15 cents per SMS, plus the prevailing SMS rate imposed by the overseas operator.   Please note that Global SMS are not part of the free monthly SMS that Singtel Mobile customers enjoy.

  3. What are the charges for receiving an SMS while I am roaming overseas?
  4. This depends on whether the overseas operator charges for receiving SMS. Most do not.

  5. With Pay-As-U-Roam, what charges do I have to pay for my roaming calls?
    • All GlobalDial 121 or IDD(outgoing call charges)
    • All AutoRoam Rerouted Calls (receiving call charges)
    •  All AutoRoam charges (imposed by overseas operators)

  2. Yes, unless you have subscribed to Caller ID Non-Display. 

  3. Can I see the telephone number of incoming calls when I am roaming?
  4. Yes, except when the number has been marked private or is unavailable (e.g. calls from payphones). 

  5. Can I set Call Forwarding when I am roaming?
  6. No. This service is disabled when you are roaming.

  7. Since Call Forwarding to my VoiceMail is disabled when I roam overseas, do I have to set Call Forwarding again when I am back in Singapore?
  8. No, your setting for Call Forwarding reverts to what it was before your trip.

  9. Can anyone deposit messages in my VoiceMail box when I am roaming?
  10. No. Once you log onto the overseas operator's network, your Call Forwarding service will be disabled and no messages can be deposited unless unconditional call forwarding has been set.

  11. Can I retrieve my VoiceMail when I am roaming?
  12. Yes, you can retrieve any messages deposited before you logged onto the overseas operator's network. Just dial *121*65 96301389# or *121*651389# and wait for the system to call you back. Please note that you must pre-activate the VoiceMail function before leaving Singapore. GlobalDial 121 charges will apply.

  13. Can I use Pay-As-U-Roam for Pick & Roam in US (GSM1900 network) instead of subscribing to AutoRoam?
