What is Tap & Fix?
Tap & Fix is a Singtel powered diagnostic tool that allows you to:
• Diagnose and to fix errors in configurations/settings on your device
• Auto monitoring of device settings and notifications for users on the go
• Troubleshoots and optimises the performance of your device
How do I use Tap & Fix?
Tap & Fix is only available on Android devices and can be downloaded from Google Playstore.
Is there any charges for downloading the app?
No. It is a free app.
Are there any data charges when using Tap & Fix?
Yes, data charges apply for using Tap & Fix.
What are the new features of Tap & Fix?
• Broadband Diagnosis analyses your home WiFi connection and proposes recommendations and actions to improve your home WiFi connectivity.
• WiFi Connection Manager analyses the connection speed available (e.g. ST Wi-Fi, 4G, 3G) to the customer and proposes alternative networks for better speed.
• Step By Step Guide provides the user with manual troubleshooting instructions that are not part of the app’s auto detection (e.g. how to query)
How does the Broadband feature work?
The Broadband feature allows you to test WiFi connectivity based on signal strength and the quality of the internet connection. You must be connected to a WiFi network in order to diagnose the above. Based on results of the test, Tap & Fix will offer ways to improve your WiFi connectivity.
I want to test another WiFi network which I’m not connected to. Will the app be able to do it?
Please ensure that you are connected to the WiFi network that you wish to test. You can change the WiFi network you are connected to through the app by tapping on the Broadband Menu and then on ‘Change WiFi Network’ . A list of available networks will be displayed for you to select from.
How does the WiFi Connection Manager feature work?
To use this feature, WiFi Connection Manager must be enabled on the app. To do so, please follow the steps below:
Launch Tap & Fix > Tap More Menu > Tap WiFi Connection Manager > Turn On ‘Enable WiFi Connection Manager’
If WiFi Connection Manager is enabled, will I be notified if my connection is switched from WiFi to Mobile Data?
The app will only prompt the first time it switches from WiFi to 3G/4G network. Subsequently, the app will switch automatically in the background. This feature can be disabled under the ‘More’ menu in the app.
Can I use Tap & Fix without a network connection (offline)?
If you have no network connection, Tap & Fix will indicate that there is an error in connection and will propose solutions on how the error may be fixed.
I’m not a Singtel mobile subscriber. Can I still use the Tap & Fix?
Only the Broadband feature is accessible for Non-Singtel subscribers. Any user can use the Broadband feature of the app.
Will this app be available to Singtel prepaid users?
Yes, Singtel prepaid subscribers can download and use the app.
How do I uninstall Tap & Fix?
To uninstall within the Tap & Fix app:
Launch the App > Tap on More Menu > Select Uninstall Tap & Fix > Click OK or UNINSTALL
Alternatively, you can also uninstall Tap & Fix via your device settings:
For all Android devices except Samsung:
Settings > Manage Applications > Select Tap & Fix > Uninstall.
For Samsung devices:
1. Settings > Security > Device Administrator > Uncheck ‘Tap & Fix’ > Deactivate
2. Settings > Manage Applications > Select Tap & Fix > Uninstall.
What are the handset or Mobile Operating System (OS) eligibility requirements to use Tap & Fix?
Currently, it is only available on Android handsets with OS 4.1 and above.
What permission does the app ask for?
For the Tap & Fix to work on your device, the following permissions are needed:
· Device & app history – To access the list of running apps to diagnose any issues pertaining to internet connectivity.
· Mobile data settings – To monitor the mobile data state of your phone.
· Identity – To authenticate Google users when required by Google Cloud Messaging (GCM).
· Location – To obtain the cell ID in the device as well as to get the available WiFi list on OS 6.0 and above.
· Photos/Media/Files – To access storage capacity as well as saving and retrieving logs from internal/external memory.
· WiFi connection information – To obtain WiFi related information, required for Broadband Test and WiFi Connection Manager.
· Device ID & call information – To get IMEI, IMSI and other device related information to help with the troubleshooting of devices (step-by-step guide).
How do I withdraw my consent for the app to access information on my phone?
You can withdraw the consent by uninstalling the app. Once you uninstall the app, you are considered to have withdrawn consent from Singapore Telecommunication Limited to further collect data.
How do I view the data collected by Singtel?
To view the data collected by Singtel, please launch the app, tap on “More” menu and click on “Retrieve Report”. The app must be installed to acquire your data.
Terms & Conditions for Tap & Fix Application (“Tap & Fix Terms”)
1. INCORPORATION BY REFERENCE
1.1 In addition to:-
(a) the General Terms and Conditions of Service (available at: https://www.singtel.com/terms-general) (“the General Terms”);
(b) the Specific Terms and Conditions for Singtel Mobile (available at: https://www.singtel.com/terms-mobile) (“the Specific Terms”);
(c) Singtel's Billing Terms and Conditions (available at: https://www.singtel.com/terms-billing) (“Singtel’s Billing Terms”); and
(d) Terms and Conditions of My Singtel Account (available at: http://www.ideas.singtel.com/mobile/support/tc.jsp) ("My Singtel Account Terms").
which terms and conditions are deemed incorporated by reference, you shall be bound by these Tap & Fix Terms.
1.2 In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between the General Terms, Singtel's Billing Terms, My Singtel Account Terms and/or these Tap & Fix Terms, such conflict or inconsistency shall be resolved in accordance with the General Terms.
1.3 In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between any provision of the Specific Terms and any provision of these Tap & Fix Terms, these Tap & Fix Terms shall prevail over the Specific Terms.
2. DEFINITIONS AND INTERPRETATIONS
2.1 In these Tap & Fix Terms, the following words and expressions shall have the following meanings:
"Application" means the mobile application known as Tap & Fix which is available for download from an AppStore.
“AppStore” means an online digital media and/or application store, and includes the iTunes Store and Google Play.
“AppStore Providers” means an owner and/or operator of an AppStore, and includes Apple Inc. and Google Inc.
"Customer" or “You” means the person using the Application.
“Force Majeure Event” means any event or circumstance (including any network failure or system downtime in respect of the Application) the occurrence or the effect of which Singtel Mobile is not reasonably able to prevent or avoid.
“Service” means that service offered by Singtel Mobile through the Application, which allows Customers to diagnose and change settings on their mobile devices.
“Singapore Dollars” or “S$” means the lawful currency of Singapore.
“Singtel" means Singapore Telecommunications Limited (CRN: 199201624D).
"Singtel Group Corporation" means Singtel and each related corporation of Singtel within the meaning given in s6 of the Companies Act.
"Singtel Mobile" means Singtel Mobile Singapore Pte Ltd (CRN: 201012456C) and its successors.
2.2 The words and expressions used in these Tap & Fix Terms that are defined in the General Terms, the Specific Terms, Singtel’s Billing Terms and/or My Singtel Account Terms but which are not defined herein, shall have the same meanings as defined in the General Terms, the Specific Terms Singtel’s Billing Terms and/or My Singtel Account Terms unless expressly defined herein or the context otherwise requires.
2.3 The headings or titles to the Clauses in these Tap & Fix Terms are to facilitate reference and shall not be referred to or relied upon in the construction of any provision of these Tap & Fix Terms.
3. USE OF THE APPLICATION
3.1 The Service is available to all Singtel Mobile customers.
3.2 The Service shall be activated when you download the Application from an AppStore and launch the Service ("Commencement Date"). Thereafter, the Service shall continue in force until terminated by Singtel Mobile or pursuant to Clause 9.1 of these Tap & Fix Terms.
3.3 You warrant that any and all information provided by you to Singtel Mobile in connection with your access to the Application and use of the Service shall be true, accurate and complete.
3.4 Singtel Mobile grants you a limited, non-transferable and non-exclusive, revocable, free of charge, personal licence to use the Service for non-commercial purposes on a mobile device that you own or control, subject to these Tap & Fix Terms.
3.5 You consent to receiving “push notifications” from Singtel Mobile relating to your access to the Application and use of the Service, including details of how and when to update the Application.
3.6 Data download charges apply to (i) any download of the Application; (ii) any upgrades you request in relation to the Application and (iii) the ongoing access to and use of the Application.
3.7 Singtel Mobile may, in its sole discretion, change, add or remove any feature or functionality of the Application and/or Services at any time. Your continued use of the Application shall be deemed to be your conclusive acceptance of such changes.
3.8 Singtel Mobile reserves the right to investigate complaints or reported violations of these Tap & Fix Terms and to take any action Singtel Mobile deems appropriate, including but not limited to reporting any suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement officials or regulators and disclosing any information necessary or appropriate to such persons.
4. CUSTOMER OBLIGATIONS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
4.1 You agree not to use and not to allow any other person to use the Service to:
4.1.1 Cause any threat, harassment, distress, annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety to any person whomsoever or violate or infringe any other person's rights (including but not limited to the right of privacy), or interfere with another person's use of the Application and/or the Service;
4.1.2 Violate any applicable laws, policies, guidelines or regulations, including but not limited to any laws, policies, guidelines or regulations applicable to the business and operations of Singtel Mobile and/or any Singtel Group Corporation;
4.1.3 Carry out any activities which Singtel Mobile considers to be actually or potentially injurious to other customers or persons, or to the operation or reputation of Singtel Mobile and/or any Singtel Group Corporation; and
4.1.4 Do any act that may at any time be prohibited by Singtel's Acceptable Use Policy which can be found at https://www.singtel.com/terms-mobile-aup.
4.2 You acknowledge and agree that:
4.2.1 Your mobile number may be disclosed to Singtel for the provision of this Service;
4.2.2 The Service is offered on an as-is basis and is dependent on device operating system and model;
4.2.3 Categories and items diagnosed by the Application shall be decided by Singtel Mobile in its sole discretion; and
4.2.4 The Application and/or the Service will not be able to diagnose settings other than what is pre-defined.
4.3 You acknowledge that Singtel Mobile has entered into agreements with, and owes certain obligations to, the AppStore Providers as a result of Singtel Mobile’s distribution of the Application on the relevant AppStore. Singtel Mobile excludes all liability to you for any loss or claims made by you arising from, or in relation to, any act or omission of Singtel Mobile relating in any way to any such agreement between Singtel Mobile and such AppStore Provider.
5. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
5.1 All intellectual property in or relating to the Application belongs solely to Singtel Mobile and its licensors. Nothing in these Tap & Fix Terms shall be construed as granting you, by implication, estoppel or otherwise, any licence or right to use any intellectual property in or relating to the Application without the prior written consent of Singtel Mobile and/or its licensors. Any right not expressly granted herein is reserved.
5.2 You shall not, and shall not attempt or assist another person to, tamper, modify, reverse-engineer, disassemble, decompile, extract or otherwise attempt to derive any source code, algorithms, methods or techniques embodied in the Application (including the software or otherwise), in any manner not expressly permitted by Singtel Mobile. For the purposes of these Tap & Fix Terms, "reverse-engineer" shall include the examination or analysis of the Application to determine the source code, structure, organisation, internal design, algorithms or encryption devices of the underlying technology of the Application.
6.1 To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless Singtel Mobile, all Singtel Group Corporations, and each of their directors, officers, employees, suppliers, licensors and agents, and any third party content providers, from and against any and all losses, liabilities, costs (including legal costs incurred in defending any such actions, claims or proceedings), damages, claims, expenses, actions and proceedings whatsoever, due to or arising from or in connection with your access to and use of the Application and the Service and/or your breach of any provision of these Tap & Fix Terms.
6.2 Your obligations under this Clause 6 shall survive any cessation of your access to the Application and use of the Service. Singtel Mobile reserves the right to assume the defence and control of any claim, demand or action subject to indemnification by you, in which event you shall cooperate with Singtel Mobile in asserting any available defences.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, SERVICE LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERS
7.1 You acknowledge and agree that, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Singtel Mobile shall not be liable to you in any way (including but not limited to any act or omission on the part of Singtel Mobile) for any and all losses, liabilities, costs, damages, claims, expenses or compensations whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, in respect of any matter of whatever nature and howsoever arising (whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise) in connection with the Application and/or the Service.
7.2 To the extent that the limitation of liability set out in Clause 7.1 above is not permitted by law, Singtel Mobile’s liability to you whether in contract, tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty) or otherwise for any and all losses, damages or liabilities caused or arising from or in relation to your access to and use of the Application or otherwise in relation to these Tap & Fix Terms shall not exceed Singapore Dollars Ten (S$10) or the actual loss or damage, whichever is the lower.
7.3 You acknowledge and agree that your access to the Application and use of the Service is subject to the following:
7.3.1 availability of a suitable mobile handset or device that is compatible for use with the Application;
7.3.2 availability and connectivity of a suitable network infrastructure at the time when the Application/Service is accessed and used; and
7.3.3 geographic and technical capability of the mobile networks and delivery systems at the time and location when and where the Application/Service is accessed and used.
7.4 Without prejudice to Clauses 7.5 and 7.6, Singtel Mobile expressly excludes any guarantee, representation, warranty, condition, term or undertaking of any kind (including warranties of non-infringement of Intellectual Property rights), whether express or implied, statutory or otherwise, or any representations or warranties arising from usage or custom or trade or by operation of law, including without limitation as to the sequence, originality, correctness, completeness, accuracy, merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose, relating to or arising from your access to the Application and use of the Service.
7.5 Singtel Mobile does not represent or provide any warranties that:
7.5.1 your access to the Application and use of the Service will meet your requirements;
7.5.2 the Application will always be available, accessible, or function or inter-operate with any other system to any extent; or
7.5.3 your access to the Application and use of the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free or that any identified defect will be corrected; further, no such warranty is given that the Application is free from any virus or other malicious, destructive or corrupting code or program.
7.6 Singtel Mobile makes no warranty of diagnostics accuracy. This Application is not a substitute for Singtel Mobile’s customer care hotline.
8.DISCLOSURE AND CONSENT
8.1 Singtel Mobile shall be entitled to request for, retrieve, collect and retain any information from or relating to you from time to time which Singtel Mobile may require for the purposes of making the Application available to you and its performance of any of its obligations under these Tap & Fix Terms.
8.2 You hereby consent to Singtel Mobile using, retrieving, collecting and/or disclosing any and all information disclosed by you to Singtel Mobile and/or any Singtel Group Corporation or collected by Singtel Mobile relating to you, your access to, and use of the Application, to:
8.2.1 any Singtel Group Corporation or any third party technology or service providers or vendors for such purpose as Singtel Mobile may at its sole discretion deem fit, including for verification, or to facilitate your access to the Application and use of the Service; and
8.2.2 any person to whom:
(i) such disclosure is required by law or pursuant to the directives of such entities (including all government agencies and authorities, regulators, exchanges, clearing houses, markets or depositories); or
(ii) Singtel Mobile is under a duty to disclose.
8.3 If you wish to withdraw your consent given under Clause 8.2, you are required to submit a request to Singtel Mobile in such form as may be specified by Singtel Mobile from time to time.
9.1 You may terminate your use of the Application by uninstalling the Application from your mobile device.
9.2 Upon the termination of your access to and use of the Application/Service:
9.2.1 you shall immediately cease all use of the Application and/or the Service; and
9.2.2 all licenses and rights granted by Singtel Mobile to you to use the Application shall terminate.
9.3 Singtel Mobile reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Application or use of the Service for any reason whatsoever. No notice will be required to be given of such action and Singtel Mobile shall not be liable in damages or otherwise for such suspension, restriction or termination.
10.1 Singtel Mobile reserves the right to alter, modify, add to or otherwise vary these Tap & Fix Terms from time to time in such manner as Singtel Mobile deems appropriate. You shall be bound by the terms and conditions so amended. In any event, if you continue to use the Application after such notice, you shall be deemed to have accepted the amendments.
10.2 Singtel Mobile shall not be deemed to be in breach of these Tap & Fix Terms by reason of any delay in performing, or any failure to perform, any of its obligations (including making the Application available to you), if the delay or failure was due to a Force Majeure Event.
10.3 These Tap & Fix Terms shall be subject to and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and you hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
10.4 Any determination or decision that Singtel Mobile may make in its discretion under any provision of these Tap & Fix Terms, may be exercised in Singtel Mobile’s sole and absolute discretion, and Singtel Mobile shall not be required to provide any reason or explanation for its determination or decision. Without prejudice to the foregoing, any reason or explanation provided by Singtel Mobile is for information only, shall not be binding on Singtel Mobile, and does not constitute any representation, warranty or undertaking as to future action or otherwise.
10.5 Any part of any provision of these Tap & Fix Terms that is invalid, unenforceable or illegal shall be enforced as nearly as possible in accordance with its terms, but shall otherwise be deemed severed and shall not affect the enforceability of any other part of these Tap & Fix Terms, which shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10.6 Save for the Singtel Group Corporations, no person who is not a party to these Tap & Fix Terms has any right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act, Chapter 53B of Singapore to enforce or enjoy the benefit of any provision of these Tap & Fix Terms.
