What is GlobalDial 121?

GlobalDial 121 allows Singtel Mobile AutoRoam customers and Pay-As-U-Roam customers to call back to Singapore and other countries using their mobile phones from overseas. It is easy to use and it promises greater savings1 with Singtel Mobile rates.

Please note that from 29 Aug '19, call set-up fees for all Roaming related calls is $0.35 for each call, except for Malaysia & Brunei which remains at $0.25 for each call.

Can I use GlobalDial 121 when I am in Singapore?
No. GlobalDial 121 is only available for Singtel Mobile customers when they are overseas.
Is GlobalDial 121 available to all Singtel Mobile users?
GlobalDial 121 is available to all Singtel Mobile AutoRoam customers and Pay-As-U-Roam customers.
Can I make calls to any destination using GlobalDial 121 when I am roaming?
Yes. GlobalDial 121 supports calls to other countries outside Singapore.
Can I use GlobalDial 121 wherever I am roaming?
If you are unable to use this service while roaming in a particular network, you may want to switch to another network and try again. Some overseas networks do not support the service because of technical constraints. The list of supported operators can be found on the Singtel website at http://info.singtel.com/personal/globaldial_list. Alternatively, please call 1688 for additional information.
Can I call any telephone number in Singapore, including residential, Singtel Mobile, M1 and StarHub numbers using GlobalDial 121?

Yes, you can dial any number in Singapore. For fixed line numbers, please remember to insert a “6” in front. For example, should you wish to call the number 6123 4567 in Singapore, just dial the following sequence:

*121*65 6123 4567#

and then press SEND.

If I make a call to Singapore using GlobalDial 121, can my friend and relative see my mobile phone number?
Yes (provided you have not subscribed to Caller Non-ID service).
What happens if I did not insert a “6” in front of the fixed line number when calling back to Singapore using GlobalDial 121?

You will not receive a callback and the call will be unsuccessful. In this case, you will receive an error message on your mobile:

“Sorry, your call has been rejected. For calls to Singapore, please insert “6” in front of fixed line numbers.”

How do I use GlobalDial 121?

GlobalDial 121 is a callback service. When you are roaming, just dial the *121* string, followed by the country code and the telephone number, and the # key. For example, should you wish to call the number 6123 4567 in Singapore, just dial the following sequence:

*121*65 6123 4567#

and then press SEND.

 

For example to call the number 1234 567 in Italy (39), just dial the following sequence:

*121*39 1234 567#

and then press SEND.

 

This message will be routed to Singtel, and we will call you back within 10 seconds. Once you answer the call, you will automatically be connected to the party you wish to talk to, and you will be able to hear the progress of the call (ringing tone). If the party is unavailable, your call will be disconnected after 5 rings. To redial your last GlobalDial call, simply dial *121# and then press SEND.

In the number dialed above, do I have to add in the IDD access code or the “+”sign?
No. The string of numbers should not contain any IDD access code or the “+” sign when using GlobalDial 121.
Can I still use IDD to call Singapore?
Yes, you can if you are one of our AutoRoam customer. Simply use the IDD access code of the network you are roaming in, or use the “+” key. Please note that your handset must be provisioned with IDD and the rates will be based on Singtel’s roaming partners.
After dialing the code for GlobalDial 121 and sending, do I have to hang up the phone?
No. Once you send the GlobalDial 121 code, your call will automatically be disconnected and your phone will return to ready mode so that you can make or receive calls as per normal. You do not have to hang up the phone.
When the system calls me back after I dial the *121* string, do I have to pick up the phone?
Yes. The call will be connected to the number you wish to call only after you pick up the phone.
How do I know whether the system has received my code to call another party?
After you dial using GlobalDial 121, you will receive a message on your phone that says, “Please wait 10secs for a callback. Thank you for using GlobalDial.” The system will then call you back.

What charges do I pay for my call?

When you use GlobalDial 121 to call back Singapore, you will pay Singtel Mobile GlobalDial 121 rates from Singapore to the country that you are roaming in. You will also be charged for any incoming call charges of the network you are roaming in, plus any taxes the overseas operator may levy.

 

For calls to countries outside Singapore, you will be charged Singtel Mobile GlobalDial 121 rates from Singapore to the country you are roaming in plus the flat zone rate of the country you are calling to.

 

Note: An additional 20% surcharge on all roaming charges will be imposed for customer using Pay-As-U-Roam service.

When does the charging for the call commence?
The call charging commences only when you answer the call back to you from Singtel.
How much will I be charged if I make a call using GlobalDial 121 from United Kingdom to Hong Kong?

For AutoRoam customer:
You will be charged Singtel Mobile GlobalDial 121 rates from Singapore to United Kingdom at S$0.25/min plus a flat zone rate to Hong Kong at S$0.60. Therefore, the total charges of making a call using GlobalDial 121 from United Kingdom to Hong Kong is S$3.60 per minute including foreign incoming airtime of $2.75 per minute.

 

You will be charged Singtel Mobile GlobalDial 121 rates from Singapore to United Kingdom at S$0.25/min plus a flat zone rate to Hong Kong at S$0.60 plus 20% surcharge. Therefore, total charges of making a call using GlobalDial 121 from United Kingdom to Hong Kong is S$4.32 per minute including foreign incoming artime of $2.75 per minute.

Are there any subscription charges for GlobalDial 121?

No. GlobalDial 121 is available free of charge for all AutoRoam customers and Pay-As-U-Roam customers.

 

Note:

Registration for AutoRoam is S$20, and registered customers pay a monthly subscription of S$10.

Will I be charged extra for using the special code *121* to initiate the call?
No. The usage of the code *121* is free of charge.
If the person I am calling does not pick up the phone, will the call be automatically disconnected?
Yes. The call will be terminated if the person you are calling does not pick up after 5 rings.
If the person I am calling does not pick up his phone within 5 rings, will I be charged for that duration?
Singtel Mobile will not charge you for the GD121 call. However, charges on incoming airtime may be levied by foreign operators when you answer the call back.
How long does it take for the system to call me back when I use GlobalDial 121 to initiate the call?
Typically about 10 seconds.
What happens if I am not able to take the call from the system?

If your phone is busy or out of coverage when the system calls you back, your call will be unsuccessful. In this case, the system will send you an SMS notifying you that your call was unsuccessful :

 

“Your call to was unsuccessful as the system was unable to reach you. Please try again.”

What happens if the called party’s phone is engaged?
You will hear an engaged tone, and then the call will be dropped. To redial your last GlobalDial call, simply dial *121# and then press SEND.
Can I use GlobalDial 121 if I activated call forward on my mobile phone?
No. Our system will send you an SMS notifying that your call forwarding is activated. You would have to switch off call forwarding on your mobile phone before you use GlobalDial 121.
Using GlobalDial 121, can I call a Singtel Mobile/M1/StarHub mobile customer who is also roaming?
Yes, you can.
I am your Autoroam customer. Why should I use GlobalDial 121 to call Singapore if I can use IDD instead?

If you use IDD from overseas to call Singapore, you will pay the IDD rates of the overseas operator, plus roaming surcharge. These rates are typically quite expensive.

 

However, using GlobalDial 121 to call Singapore will give you an opportunity to reduce your bills. There is no expensive roaming markup charges to be paid, and you will pay Singtel Mobile GlobalDial 121 rates, which are usually cheaper than the rates levied by the roaming partners.

 

Please note however that there may be charges imposed for incoming calls by the overseas operator, plus any taxes if applicable.

So why should I use GlobalDial 121 if I can use ICC instead?

To use ICC, you need to be an ICC card subscriber. This is not necessary for GlobalDial 121. You also need not register for GlobalDial 121 in order to use the service as it is given free to all AutoRoam customers and Pay-As-U-Roam customers. You can only use ICC in certain countries, whereas you can use GlobalDial 121 in all of Singtel’s roaming destinations (subject to the operators supporting GlobalDial 121).

 

 

To use ICC, you have to know the local access number for the country you are roaming in. You also have to key in the 10-digit card number followed by the pin number, before dialling the number of the party you wish to call.

 

 

However, for GlobalDial 121, you only need to remember the short *121* string. This will be the same number no matter where you roam.

If, in a certain country, a particular operator does not support USSD, can I then use GlobalDial 121 by roaming with another operator in the same country?
Yes. This is provided that Singtel Mobile has a roaming arrangement with the other operator, and this operator should also support GlobalDial 121. Can I re-dial my GlobalDial 121 calls instead of keying in the entire *121* string again?

Yes. To re-dial your last called number, simply dial:

*121#

and then press SEND

 

To re-dial any of your last few called numbers, simply key:
*121*0#

Are there any additional charges for using the re-dial function: *121# or *121*0#?
No. There are no additional charges for using the redial functions. You are charged based on successful GlobalDial 121 calls only.
If I make an outgoing call using the normal calling pattern, can I re-dial that number using the re-dial function: *121# or *121*0# codes?
No. It is meant for calls made using GlobalDial 121 service only.
If I received an incoming call, can I re-dial that number using the re-dial function: *121# or *121*0# codes?
No. It is meant for outgoing calls made using *121* only.
Is *121# or *121*0# restricted calling back to Singapore only?
No.
