GameoverZeus & Cryptolocker Malware Attack – June 2014

IDA has issued an advisory on malware called Gameover Zeus and CryptoLocker, which encrypts a computer user’s information and demands a ransom in order to decrypt the files.

For your protection, we strongly recommend that you use a reputable and updated anti-malware solution to scan and remove malware that may be residing on your computer. If you do not have an existing solution, you may wish to consider our Singtel Security Suite (for personal) or SingNet Desktop Security (for business).

We urge you to be vigilant and adopt good online safety practices, such as

  • changing your passwords regularly
  • keeping operating systems, antivirus signatures and software up-to-date
  • backing up important files regularly
  • avoiding spam emails and links from unknown senders
