Fun things to do in Singapore: Drivers’ Edition

Thurs, 3 Nov 2022 | 5 minutes read

Looking for fun things to do with your car or just love all things car-related? Here’s what you can do.

Are you a driver or car enthusiast who’s looking for fun things to do in Singapore? From quenching your need for speed to exploring some of the city’s best views, consider a day out with the activities listed below!

1. Go karting at Karting Arena or KF1 Karting

Turn your racing dreams into reality with go karting! Karting Arena has tracks at Jurong and Bukit Timah and is the first to offer electric go-karts in Singapore. Besides fun karting, you can also compete with your friends in the Grand Prix for the ultimate F1 experience.

Meanwhile, KF1 Karting has two circuit tracks at Kranji and Expo. It has recently added a third circuit – Singapore’s first indoor karting circuit at RWS – that is open till 31 December 2022.

No matter which track you choose, you’re in for an adrenaline-filled ride. And if you have a driver’s licence, you can take things up a notch with a higher speed limit of 50km/h – usually capped at 30km/h for others – or take a spin on the more advanced tracks!

What’s more, Singtel Car Community is giving out free go-kart tickets for you and a friend this November! If you are a Singtel Car Community member, check your registered e-mail for more details on how to redeem your reward. If not, you can join Singtel Car Community for free here.

2. Farm-hop at Kranji Countryside

You’ve heard of cafe hopping, but what about farm hopping? Beat the crowds or opt for a fun day out with kids by driving down to Kranji Countryside – where most of Singapore’s farms are located. From vegetables, to cows, goats and even shrimp, there’s a good variety of farms that are open to the public. Most are free entry too!

Travelling there by public transportation can be inconvenient, but perfect for drivers as you can travel from farm to farm without any qualms. Just imagine starting your day with a goat feeding session at Hay Dairies, then having a nice languid meal amongst nature at Bollywood Veggies, before rounding off your visit to a fish or shrimp farm for some fresh seafood as souvenirs!

3. Enjoy a scenic drive outdoors

Sometimes the remedy to a long, stressful day is relaxing with a nice scenic drive outdoors. Here are some of the places to drive to with a view. As a bonus, you can also drive AND chill at most of these locations!

●      Mandai Road – Did you know that Mandai Road was constructed in 1855 and is one of the five heritage roads in Singapore? Take a relaxing drive down this long road that’s flanked with a canopy of trees and stunning sights of the Upper Seletar Reservoir. Along the way, you can also stop at the Seletar Rocket Tower!

●      Mount Faber Road – We may not have mountains, but we have hills, and the drive up Mount Faber – one of Singapore’s most iconic hills – offers an amazing view. Drink in the sights with a bird’s eye view of the coastline amidst lush greenery as you take a slow drive up the quiet one-way road.

●      Bayfront Avenue – Get mesmerised by the glitz and lights of the city skyline and get rewarded with picture-perfect views of iconic landmarks that include the Helix Bridge, Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade and Fullerton Hotel. Pro-tip: Go at night for the best photo opportunity!

4. Indulge in a supercar driving experience

Calling all Top Gear fans, we’ve got you. One of the best things about driving is being able to go fast, and there’s no better way to do that than experiencing it in a supercar.

Take your pick from the likes of a Ferrari California, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Mclaren MP4-12C or Ferrari 458 Spider out for a spin down the iconic Marina Bay circuit. And yes, you get to stay behind the wheel with full control of the car!

Because a certain level of complexity is involved, most tour operators require drivers to be above 21 and have at least two years of driving experience under their belt. Prices for a once-in-a-lifetime supercar experience start from $300, depending on the operator.

5. See your dream car at the Singapore Motorshow

If you are someone who loves everything car related, right down to discussing the specifications of vehicles, visiting a car show might be right up your alley.

Even if you’re not in the market for a new car, a motor show is a great place to catch new launches and check out the latest automotive technology in the market. If anything else, it’s worth a trip just to see and feel the car of your dreams.

You can catch a glimpse of the latest car models at the Singapore Motorshow 2023, which is back after a three year hiatus at Suntec Singapore from 12 to 15 January 2023.

6. Meet other car enthusiasts

There’s nothing like finding like-minded car owners who share the same interests as you, and these days, you can do so simply by joining car clubs, car forums or online car communities!

It’s worth joining one of these communities as they are often a goldmine of information, with advice and deals that are tailored to your specific car interests. Singtel Car Community is one such example, where you can participate in monthly giveaways and win prizes that include one year’s worth of free petrol! The best part? It’s free to join.
