Just a year ago, few would have envisioned their employees working entirely from home. But in this new normal, many businesses have successfully scaled up their remote workforce overnight – even if they lack the backend equipment to support a fully digital workplace. They have cloud computing to thank for this.
By moving to the cloud, small and mid-market businesses (SMBs) can gain access to the same enterprise-level resources as their bigger peers. These resources include tools and applications such as data storage, servers, databases, networking, and software programmes.
Even then, many SMBs still rely on their legacy equipment for their operations, from accounts to database management systems. This could be a costly decision in the long term as the bills from refreshing on-premise server hardware every few years to the costs of troubleshooting and keeping up with security vulnerabilities stack up.
