Have you heard of the Samsung Galaxy Ring?
According to rumours, it’s a new wearable that Samsung’s currently working on.
In this article, we tell you everything we know about the Samsung Galaxy Ring, including:
PS: All the information in this article is based on rumours and speculation from established tech websites such as Tom’s Guide. As of now, there hasn't been any official announcement from Samsung – we'll be sure to update this space if that changes!
Earlier on, it was rumoured that the Samsung Galaxy Ring would be launched in early 2024.
But word is now that the Galaxy Ring will launch during the third quarter of 2024, or the first quarter of 2025.
If it does launch during the third quarter of 2024, it would probably launch together with the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6.
The answer is no... it’s actually not!
Smart rings are actually a thing, and they’ve been a thing for a while now.

These utilise sensors, Bluetooth and Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology to collect information about your health and activity.
The closest thing to smart rings are probably smartwatches, which serve a similar function.
However, the one major difference between smart rings and smartwatches is that smart rings don’t allow you to view any information or feedback on a screen.
Instead, you’ll pair your smart ring with your phone or tablet, and view the data there instead.
Some smart rings currently available in the market include:
Oura Ring
McLear RingPay
Circular Ring
Hecere NFC Ring
Go2sleep Ring
Here’s what we’ve heard about the Samsung Galaxy ring’s potential features.

Firstly, it will most likely come with a built-in heart rate monitor – and it may or may not include more advanced features such as blood pressure monitoring.
The Ring may also be able to track sleep and body composition.
Design-wise, it’s rumoured that Samsung will be making the Galaxy Ring in four sizes.
Upon purchase of the Galaxy Ring, consumers may have to size their fingers using a sizing kit provided by Samsung.
They can then provide their ring size to Samsung, and the company will then ship them the Galaxy Ring in the appropriate size.
From a local context, smart rings haven’t gained significant traction in Singapore thus far.
However, the introduction of a product from a mainstream brand like Samsung could potentially alter this.
While the smart ring market has often been associated with niche brands and limited awareness, Samsung's entry into this arena has the potential to capture the attention of a broader audience.
Smart rings could also appeal to folks who desire a health-focused wearable but prefer something more discreet than a large smartwatch.
We’re still awaiting the official announcement from Samsung - till then, watch this space!
