Mobile Protect keeps your device protected against device viruses and hacking, phishing attacks, malicious URL and domains, as well as alerts you on potentially fraudulent businesses website.

14. What malicious software does Mobile Protect detects and protects against?

Mobile Protect safeguards you against various types of malicious threats and viruses including:

Malware and spyware attacks – which gain unauthorised control on devices, and thus unpermitted access to on-device personal data
Phishing scams – which steal one’s sensitive information
Botnet attacks – which use hijacked networks to spread viruses and other malicious software to devices
Potentially dangerous software operating on outdated systems

15. How does Mobile Protect work?

Mobile Protect monitors the network traffic to detect and blocks against malicious sites, malware, viruses, ransomware, scams, and other online threats. It blocks known, unknown, and evasive malware/spyware, malicious URLs and domains, and files that contain viruses. It also alerts users of URLs that contain insufficient content and are suspected of phishing. Mobile Protect is automatically activated once subscribed.

16. Why does Mobile Protect fail to block malicious sites when VPNs or Apple iCloud Private Relay are turned on?

VPNs and Private Relay prioritize privacy by encrypting traffic. Hence, these technologies are designed to enhance user privacy.

VPNs: Encrypt all internet traffic and route it through secure servers, preventing Mobile Protect from analysing data packets for malicious content.
Private Relay: Encrypts internet traffic, including web and DNS requests, and routes it through two separate relays. The first relay removes identifying information like the user's IP address, while the second relay assigns a temporary IP address and forwards the traffic to its destination. This dual-relay system ensures that no single party can access both the user's original IP address and browsing activity simultaneously, enhancing privacy and reducing tracking risks. While this enhances privacy, it limits Mobile Protect’s visibility on this encrypted traffic. Non-encrypted traffic may remain partially visible to Mobile Protect.

If both a VPN and a private relay service are active, internet traffic is typically routed exclusively through the VPN, bypassing the private relay entirely. Once the VPN is disconnected, the private relay resumes handling and protecting applicable traffic, such as browser activity. Likewise, when both VPN and Private Relay services are disconnected, Mobile Protect resumes its full ability to inspect and protect your traffic.

17. Do I need to scan for regular updates?

Everything is automatically done at our network level. You do not need to scan for updates.

18. Does Mobile Protect scan message content and attachments?

No, it does not. However, if you have clicked on a malicious link, Mobile Protect will block you from proceeding with the page.

19. How do I check when was the last update?

You can check your security report via the My Singtel app. Simply go to Manage Add-ons, click on Mobile Protect, and you will find your personalised report.

In addition, if you have enabled push notifications from My Singtel App, Mobile Protect will send you a weekly summary.

20. I am a Mobile Protect subscriber, and I logged on to Wi-Fi when I’m home. Does it keep me protected?

No, it does not.
